Belt Filter Presses

Brask Belt Filter Presses are the industry standard for solid / liquid separation equipment, especially the dewatering of sludges in the chemical industry, mining industry, and at water treatment facilities.

A Belt Filter Press allows for the continuous separation (de-watering) of solids from water based organic and mineral sludge and slurries. The filtration process is primarily achieved by passing a pair of filtering cloths and belts through a system of rollers.

The Belt Filter Press is used to dewater sludge from 1-6% solids and mineral slurries from 6-25% solids. The products processed are typically delivered to the Belt Filter Press via a positive displacement pump.

Belt Filter Press Applications:

Belt Filter Press applications include:

  • Municipal WWTP sludge
  • Pulp & paper sludge
  • Water plant sludge
  • Meat processing sludge
  • Canning sludge
  • Ink sludge
  • Mineral & aggregate slurries
  • Grease trap waste
  • Food processing waste
  • Industrial waste water
  • Pharmaceutical wastes
  • Septic tank sludge
  • Animal manure

FAQs: Belt Filter Presses

What are the control features of the Brask Belt Filter Press?

  • NEMA 4X stainless steel control panel
  • 10-inch color touch screen operation
  • PLC modem for factory support
  • Operator adjustable system timers
  • Operator parameter adjustment history
  • Alarm history of over 600 most recent faults

How does the Belt Filter Press actually operate?

Belt Filter Presses apply mechanical pressure to a chemically conditioned slurry, which is sandwiched between two tensioned belts, by passing those belts through a winding section of decreasing diameter rolls. The Belt Filter Press can actually be divided into three zones:

  • Gravity zone - free draining water is drained by gravity through a porous belt
  • Wedge zone - where solids are prepared for pressure application
  • Pressure zone - where medium pressure and then high pressure is applied to the solids
